New Obsession: Busou Shinki

picture from Shinki Flickr Group

Yesterday I was reading through my blogroll when i stumbled upon Meimi's post on Busou Shinki!

I had just finished reading Angelic layer and loved the whole concept of the robotic angel fighting game! And was thinking that it would be a great game and wondering if there was a game like that on the pc somewhere! and thats why I was overjoyed in finding out about Busou Shinki's game Battle Rondo!
picture from wiki

What is Busou Shinki?

Busou Shinki (武装神姫, literally Armed God Princess) is an Action Figure line released by Konami Digital Entertainment. Each figure, based on Konami's MMS design, is highly poseable and features a wide variety of interchangeable parts. Each figure is also linked with an online game element. The online gaming element of the Busou Shinki series, Battle Rondo is a free MMO set in the fictional Busou Shinki universe. By inputting a code that comes with each Busou Shinki figure, or by use of Micropayments, players can unlock online versions of the figures, including their armor and weapons, as well as other gear.

Battle Rondo is set in the Busou Shinki universe. In this universe, Busou Shinki figures are AI controlled robot toys that people buy and train for arena combat. Busou Shinki robots are manufactured by a wide variety of companies and have different strengths, weaknesses, equipment, and personalities that are dependent on the model type and owner modification.Essentially a Pet-raising simulation, players are cast as the trainers of the Busou Shinki robots. Unlike many games in this genre, the Busou Shinki characters are completely AI controlled. The actions the various characters take are based on AI set values, and modified by the AI depending on the trainers responses during and after the fight. Actual combat is turn based and geared around PvP matches, although single player based training modes also exist.

Bundled with the Battle Rondo software is the Diorama Studio software. Not a game, Diorama Studio allows its users to create and save digital dioramas of the Busou Shinki figures. A wide variety of different backgrounds and props are available, and the finished dioramas may be uploaded to Shinki Net for others to view. Both Battle Rondo and Diorama Studio are updated regularly to incorporate new Busou Shinki figures. Both Battle Rondo and Diorama Studio are in Japanese, however numerous guides have been made by fans for English players.

So yes I have a new obsession, my poor wallet lol hehe I have to collect them all!! which getting my hands on a couple will be really hard, but fun to try ^_^

I've got two on the way from Hobby Link ^_^ and I've pre-ordered two which are hard to get now over at Hobby Search, which will be my first time using them! has anyone else bought things from them before? if so what are your thoughts?
one of my pre-orders Arnval (アーンヴァル, ĀNVARU), Angel Type! picture from flickr group

I really am quite obsessed lol, I love the look of the figures and the game, now all I have to do is get them. (although you dont need a figure to play the game, you get assigned with one character if you dont have a figure code)

Busou Shinki will be my first offical japanese game, and I'm going to have a hell of a time trying to figure everything out lol.

So even if I end up sucking at the game (which is a given with me) I'll still collect the figures because I've fallen in love with them ^_^

If your interested In Busou Shinki heres an english forum that has been a great help to me already ^_^ you should check it out.

I'll also suggest everyone go check out Meimi's original post and you can see one of the op's for the game which is awesome!

Japanese Penpals + I bought a Domain!

Thought that I would do a little post today to fill everyone in on my new domain and how to get a Japanese penpal ^_^

Firstly, My link is now... http://www.nomadichu.com I've been wanting to buy a domain for a while now but never could think of a name, nomadichu is one of my nick names, which was created with the help of my little pokemon friend pikachu, and the big bad world of IRC lol. In the end I couldnt think of anything else so nomadichu it is.

So if you had me on a blogroll or anything you'll have to change the link ^_^ arigato!

I've always wanted a penpal so I thought about looking for a Japanese penpal, not only would it be fun to send e-mails, but it could end up helping me make more friends in japan, as well as I'll have someone to practice Japanese with! The best site that I've discovered is japan-guide It's extremly easy to use and you can view adds made by a japanese person looking for a penpal or create your own add, then get swarmed with a ton of e-mails.

Its not only centered on Japanese people, you can find a penpal in pretty much any country. I would advise it to anyone who wants to find friends in all different countries!

Introducing.... Miku Hatsune and Haruhi Suzumiya!

Kate 030

Thats right!! My Hatsune Miku Figma has arrived! and Haruhi decided to welcome Miku into our figma family by stealing her microphone and singing her a song!

My camera has been playing up, not even going to bother going into detail, but I've pretty much solved the problem now, but only got to take a few snaps of Miku and Haruhi and their not that great!

I'm shamed by this photo but I shall post it anyway!
Miku got sick of Haruhi hogging the mic and is trying to stop me from taking pictures while she goes to bash haruhi with her leek!

CLAMP!

Thats right I've joined the forces of CLAMP fangirls! lol I've always been a fan of clamp works, and had seen many of the anime adaptions, but after watching the Tsubasa Chronicle OVA I decided to start reading CLAMP manga! and now I'm on a mission to read everything by CLAMP and then continue to watch all tha anime adaptions ^_^

What is CLAMP?

Clamp (クランプ) is a Japanese mangaka group. The group's manga series are often made into anime after release. Almost 100 million Clamp tankōbon copies have been sold worldwide as of October 2007.

According to Clamp, the group's name means "a pile of potatoes". (While this explanation may seem apocryphal, a storage clamp is indeed used for temporary storage of root crops, such as potatoes.) Clamp's genres vary widely, from childish and comedic (Cardcaptor Sakura, Clamp School Detectives) to much more dramatic and teen-rated (xxxHolic, X) series. (Info from Wikipedia)

Why do I want to attempt reading all CLAMP manga? I love the art as well as their story lines!

CLAMP manga read so far:
All latest chapters of - Tsubasa RESERVoir CHRoNiCLE, XXXHolic and Kobato
Currently Reading: Wish!

Anime CLAMP adaptions watched:
Cardcaptor Sakura
Tsubasa Chronicle
Magic Knight Rayearth
Currently Watching: Chobits!

So I haven't watched/read much yet but I'm going to have a lot of fun getting there ^_^

Have you ever done this to a certain favourite mangaka or have you done it with anime? (eg: watched all of studio ghibli works?) If you have what was it? and did you complete it?

Also have you ever wanted to do something like this?

Your First Anime Crush!

The Header says it all, who was your first anime crush!? Mine was Darien/Tuxedo mask from sailor moon lol!
and my second crush was Hayate from Pretear!
So I'm curious to find out other's first anime crush! who was yours?

My Bag

Well on Dannychoo people have been posting pictures of their bags, so I thought that i would jump on the bandwagon and show mine, although its not that interesting.

I have pretty simple stuff at the moment.

-my wallet
-my phone with frog strap ^_^
-Minami stole Mikuru's frog suit and hopped into my bag lol.
-make up (mascara, eyeliner and concealer for the bags that live under my eyes!)
-glasses case
-shana pin
-keys with a little moose backpack my canadian exchange friend got me.
-date planner
-pain killers (i get bad headaches)
-and the manga, hana yori dango. (I always carry around whatever I'm reading atm, so usually a manga and a novel both find themselves in my bag!)

And thats my boring bag for you! probably do another post once I start up the hectic school life again next year, my bag will probably get more goodies and become more interesting!

Goodies!!

(My camera Ran out of bateries the other day, so i used my mums camera, which is really weird.)Yesterday when I checked the mail I was surprised to see two boxes with goodies inside!!

After reading OtakuDan's entry on justmanga I decided to check out the site, and was surprised with the great international prices, as well as the manga prices! It ended up being cheaper getting four including postage then the cost of two manga's bought in australia, they also send free plastic protector covers for your manga, and I also got a free death note key chain of Light.

What did I get?
Shrine of the morning mist, Volume 3 and 4, finally finished off my collection on this kawaii miko story! Although theirs meant to be a fifth volume, but I dont think it has come out yet :(

I've also started my collection on Hana Yori Dango my #1 favourite manga, I've had some trouble tracking down somewhere that has the full series so I was really happy to see that justmanga had it ^_^

I also got from the australian site Madman my Neon Genesis Evangelion platnium boxset and The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya Volume 1 with the collectors box including haruhi's leader arm band ^_^

I'd already watched half of NGE, so i got to see the end of it yesterday, now I can't wait till i get the movies, might have to d/l them first lol.

Harui is making her first appearence proudly ontop of the haruhi box lol, Also Minami-frog ontop of the NGE boxset where you can see Misato ^_^ she's my favourite NGE girl, Asuka coming in second! who's your favourite?

Buying vs Dowloading.

Are you one of those people who download all of their anime to watch? Or you watch and then only buy anime boxsets or individual sets with series that you just have to get!?

I'm a bit of both, since I live in a rural part of australia, I have really horrible bandwith so i can only watch so much a month, I can't torrent, but I do d/l things through IRC (thank you almighty IRC gods!!) and before i discovered IRC I used to stream... everything.

My new plan is to buy boxsets of series i love, and also series that I've started that I love but have soo many episodes like Full Metal Alchemist for example, I love it so far, but theres just so many episodes to watch that I wouldnt be able to watch it when i wanted to due to my internet, so I'm just going to buy the boxsets, it ends up being a lot easier this way for me.

So how do you watch your anime?
